“When I received the products and began to look at them, I was skeptical
about how well the Mallard head and neck would hold up, and I had my doubts
about how well the small birds could be thrown because of their light weight.
After using the product hard for about three weeks, I found that the large
Mallard has held up extremely well and the small birds are very easy to throw
a good distance, and the dogs really like the products. The head and neck being
all foam results in the birds bouncing in ways that gets the dogs excited,
and that is what we want because it encourages the desire to retrieve. For
those that know how I train, you know that I carry a bucket around with a variety
of bumpers, and that bucket is now full of Armadillo Foam products.”

“I have been using the Armadillo Foam products for about a week now and
I couldn't be more pleased so far. I have been using the 3" bumper with
tremendous results. The dogs go crazy over the bumper and love retrieving it.
One thing I have seen is the erratic way that the dummies and bumpers bounce.
These things do tremendous at attracting attention to themselves and the dogs
love watching them. I think this helps add to the dogs marking. All the products
are holding up tremendously well right now. A few grass marks on them but that
is it. I like the Range Extender Grip and the way they throw. The way they
fly and bounce really helps to keep a pups attention.”

“The full sized duck is extremely well built and appears to be very durable.
The paint on the bird is very well done and is not going to skin off easily.
I went to a parking lot by the house here and threw one of the dummies at least
thirty times in the paved lot and not one scratch is seen on the bird at this
point. I will say, however, that the full sized bird is a little larger than
I thought it would be. My adult dogs had no problems with the size, but the
eight month old puppies would not be able to handle this sized bird routinely.
The small bird is AWESOME!!!!! You can absolutely zip one of these birds. My
dogs loved these (adults and puppies alike). I would strongly recommend that
everyone who is trying to start a puppy, get a few of these smaller birds.
The paint on these, of course, is the same as the paint on the big birds. Furthermore,
the customer service with Armadillo Foam is the best that I have ever seen.
There is no way that you will find a better buy for the retriever dollar.”

“Alright guys and gals here is some feedback on the new trainers offered
through Armadillo foam. I got a package the other day and got to try out the
Mallard trainer from Armadillo Foam.....this trainer is the real deal. I like
the size and detail, not to mention the durability. I took my 3 labs into the
back yard and took [the other foam dog trainer] and an Armadillo, with both
held in one hand I throw them together to see how the dogs will react. My YLM(
the one in the picture on the main forum) goes in for the retrieve first.....he
hits the pile and takes the Armadillo first. I’m amazed for the fact
that he LOVES the [the other foam dog trainer]. Well I figure it was only by
chance, I was wrong!! After 3 hours of work between all the dogs I start to
figure this isn’t a chance occurrence, they all took the Armadillo first!!
Now I didn’t even inject the AFT at this point and still they loved it.
I took it to the lake for some real tests and let me say I was IMPRESSED AGAIN!!!
I like the fact that they offer the Range Extender Grip. I could really get
some good distance throws, again the dogs loved them. I had a buddy out with
me and he does some training and he was flat out amazed at bang for the buck
prices that they offer. Let me say I have a couple kennel owners/trainers on
my ProStaff and I will be showing them to see what they think of the AFT and
hopefully we can get some guys out west using the product....Bottom line for
the price and quality you really should give them a look.”

“In training gundogs I like to gradually transition them to real birds
through bumpers and then onto cold game followed by live game. Often carrying
birds is initially difficult for a dog as they have to learn to balance them
and adjust for the shape. But now, with the Armadillo dummies, this stage has
been made very simple. Strong, robust, easy to throw and carry these dummies
are great for dog training. I use them for dogs as young as 10 weeks and they
love them. The small birds in particular are very popular with my dogs and
it is quite deceiving how far you can throw them – they really throw

dummies to our retriever training program. The lifelike Mallard and Quail allow
for scent injections directly into the foam aiding in training, marking and
tracking. Additionally, the density of the foam is perfect for developing a
dog's "soft mouth" so birds are not returned destroyed with embedded
teeth marks, which makes for a much better presentation on the dinner plate!
These are absolutely the best retrieving dummies I have used in 15 years of
